Wow. So, for those of you who don't read [livejournal.com profile] bookslut, the Times Online is claiming to be publishing an excised original chapter from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Either this is a *very* good fanfic - and frankly it doesn't read like a parody, and the only reason I am mentioning the possibility is that I would feel like an idiot if it were a joke and I presented it as fact - or Dahl had originally conceived that book to be even darker than it was. Ouch.

Hrm. It seems a bit cut off, you know what I mean? But I suppose that oculd be explained by the fact that it wasn't in the final book so maybe it wasn't edited so much.

But yeah. Dark.

Wow, that is really dark. Let me know if you find out if it is real or fake. Wow.

Ooh! Interesting! I'd love to know if it's real.

I thought each kid only got to bring one guardian. Maybe not, in previous edits?

I was wondering that myself.

Hahahaha.

I would lean toward real. Dahl was a pretty dark guy. Remember BFG? Or Witches? Those were pretty dark. And of course, there's his adult work, including Switchbitch

I don't buy it.

Stylistically, practically, how come?
