t minus fifteen hours
Jan. 8th, 2010 01:27 pmOfficial confirmation (finally): the blogathon for Tricia starts tomorrow, Saturday, January 9, at 4 am. I will be blogging once an hour every hour from 4 am to 12 midnight.
The PayPal button will be on each of those posts. If anyone wants to make hourly donations, or (more fun, IMO) pick a topic for me to write about, the above link will show you the way.
Just because I feel like I should say it, after months of being unable to take any food by mouth -- actually, any food at all; the tumors in her abdomen are too large to allow for a gastric tube, so any nutrition she's gotten has had to be given via IV -- Tricia has elected to stop TPN [total parenteral nutrition] and allow the disease to run its course. Her quality of life was too poor, and the prognosis too bleak, to make any other option acceptable to her. She is currently at home, being cared for by a hospice team. She went off the TPN the day before yesterday, I think. The doctors anticipated that she would have one "good" week from that point, and that she might live one more week after that, but that she would be asleep most of the time and confused when awake.
I have to do work now and I'm already getting emotional writing that, so I guess that's enough for now. But I'll be doing the blogathon starting at 4 am. I won't be blogging about Tricia, except for maybe the final post. I wouldn't last long if I tried. It's for her though.
Once again, the donation post is here. Incidentally, I'm not averse to doing fiction, excerpting my current work, or writing drabbles or one-shot fanfics for fandoms that I know. I don't write noncon, dubcon, incest, or underage sex, but those are my only restrictions. So for everyone out there who's been yearning for some piece of crackfic that no one has ever been willing to write for you, donate five bucks to Tricia's care/Tricia's kids, and it's yours. Also, for those of you who said you wanted to know more about Bridge, Beth, etc. after the excerpt I posted back when I did the reading, that's also up for grabs.
